    No experience or partner required to join! This class will teach you the basic 6-count and 8-count patterns as well as fundamentals of connection and footwork. We will also cover dance etiquette and how to groove with your partner!

    A new series of 4 lessons begins at the first of every month. The first Thursday of the month is the best time to start for beginners!

    • Beginner lesson 7:00 - 8:00pm
    • Social dance to recorded music 8:00 - 10:00pm.
    • We play a variety of styles, including waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep, Viennese waltz, cha-cha, rumba, east coast swing, west coast swing, bolero, samba, salsa, and hustle.
       
    • No partner required.

    • Pay at the door.  (USA Dance members: $8, Students: $6, All others: $12)

  • April 4th, 7:00pm - 10:00pm 5 Seasons Swing: Monthly Dance
    cherry building, 329 10th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401
    Join 5 Seasons Swing at the Cherry Building (329 10th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids) for a beginner lesson at 7pm and a social dance from 8 - 10pm. $10 / person (cash or Venmo accepted). No experience is necessary, and no partner is required.

    Fun, frivolity, games, music, dancing...it's the complete package!! Hope to see you there.

    Join us at Old Brick for ballroom dancing! No experience or partner required. The dances covered will rotate every week, and will cover tango, foxtrot, waltz, rumba, cha cha, and swing.

    The Green House, 505 E Washington St, Iowa City, IA 52240
    Meet us for a drink and a spin around the dance floor. Come to enjoy a relaxed evening of dance, drinks, and connecting with friends. We will DJ music to dance lindy hop and other swing dances. All (safe & respectful) dance moves are welcome.

    A beginner swing lesson will be taught at 7pm, followed by the social dance at 7:30. No partner or experience required.

    There is no charge for this event. Please plan to purchase drinks from our generous host and tip well!

  • April 9th Argentine Tango Class + Practice
    225 S Grand Ave, Iowa City
    Thursday there is an Argentine tango class followed by a short practice!

    We will have a class oriented for beginners, but all levels are welcome. Classes are planned to be conducted mostly on Thursdays.

    Location: Field House (225 S Grand Ave), activity room 461

    The event is free for UI students and anyone who has a rec services membership! The entrance fee in the building for non-members is $12.

    Public Space One (PS1 Close) at 538 S Gilbert St. Iowa City
    Dance to donate! Support Public Space One (PS1) while partying across 3 floors of dance lessons, performances, and DJ sets. With 4+ taster classes and 6+ hours of dance music, this event is for absolute beginners and experienced dancers. Styles will include lindy hop, west coast swing, breaking, house dance, Brazilian zouk, blues, and more. You'll also get a chance to win incredible prizes from sponsors like Fuego dance shoes.

    All proceeds go to PS1.

    All are invited to hear 5–10 minute PowerPoint presentations about dancers, musicians, groups, and events influencing the creation of lindy hop. You can come just to watch and engage in conversation. You can bring a snack to share. Or, you can sign up to research and
    present on a swing dance-related topic of your choice (a dancer, musician, move, event, etc.).
