December 3rd, 7:00pm - 9:30pm Green House Swing Dance Social

The Green House, 505 E Washington St, Iowa City, IA 52240

Meet us for a drink and a spin around the dance floor. Come to enjoy a relaxed evening of dance, drinks, and connecting with friends. We will DJ music to dance lindy hop and other swing dances. All (safe & respectful) dance moves are welcome.
A beginner swing lesson will be taught at 7pm, followed by the social dance at 7:30. No partner or experience required.
There is no charge for this event. Please plan to purchase drinks from our generous host and tip well!

Join us for our weekly Argentine Tango social dance and lesson. We begin with an all-levels class at 7:00 PM, suitable for newcomers and experienced dancers alike.
Following the lesson, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, a DJ will play a mix of traditional and contemporary tango music to dance to.

Please note:

Enter through the back entrance and ring the bell.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.
Admission is free for first-time attendees, $5 for others.

Annual meeting 7:30 - 8:00pm (No lesson)

Social dance to recorded music 8:00 - 10:00pm. (holiday-themed playlist)

We play a variety of styles, including waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep, Viennese waltz, cha-cha, rumba, east coast swing, west coast swing, bolero, samba, salsa, and hustle.

December 7th, 7:00pm - 10:00pm 5 Seasons Swing: Monthly Dance

cherry building, 329 10th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401

Join 5 Seasons Swing at the Cherry Building (329 10th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids) for a beginner lesson at 7pm and a social dance from 8 - 10pm. $10 / person (cash or Venmo accepted). No experience is necessary, and no partner is required.

Fun, frivolity, games, music, dancing...it's the complete package!! Hope to see you there.

December 8th Intermediate/ Advanced Modern Dance for Adults

Nolte Academy

Intermediate to advanced level modern dance class for adults who want to get back into regular weekly dance classes. Free or with donation on Sunday mornings at Nolte Academy, 10am-12pm. Warm up, across the floor, and combo work.

Weekly classes taught by Armando Duarte. Classes will run for 2 hours, divided in two sessions (5:30-6:30PM -- Beginners; 6:30-7:30PM -- Intermediate or Low Intermediate). All are welcome to stay for the two sessions; the difference between the two sessions will be the shared combinations.

Movement clothing and shoes with low floor adherence are recommended.

Suggested donation per class is $20 per individual or $35 per couple.

We're thrilled to be bringing Chicago's very own Desiree Roffers!

♥ About the Artist ♥
Desiree has loved dancing her whole life. At the age of four, she began learning Irish Dance. Soon after, she was competing around the country and started teaching dance in early middle school. Around 2002, Desiree switched her focus to swing dancing and began studying Lindy Hop, Blues, and Balboa. Desiree continues to travel to swing dance events around the world to learn, teach, and compete. Desiree especially loves balboa because of its circular momentum, close connection, and intricate footwork. She has received balboa awards from events across North America. Desiree has three graduate degrees in education and provides training for teachers in Chicago public schools. She is currently working on her PhD in Instructional Technology. In 2011, Desiree started Chicago Balboa Underground and she remains dedicated to growing the swing dance scene in Chicago and across the globe. As an instructor and swing dance organizer, Desiree values inclusive practices, trauma-informed approaches, and social justice.

♥ About the Organizer ♥
Verity Rose has had a passion for dance ever since her first ballet class at age 3. Fastforward to April 2022 when she founded her business, V Rose Productions, in order to bring dance events to the Iowa community! She loves traveling for dance, connecting with people, and community is at the heart of every event she organizes.
